Performing Salat Guiding

This follow is the performing Salat which is I take from As-Sabereen.Com

Obligatory (Fard) Daily Salat

It is obligatory (Fard) to perform the following five prayers during day and night:

  • Dawn prayer (Fajr) - 2 Rak'ats.
  • Midday prayer (Zuhr) - 4 Rak'ats.
  • Afternoon prayer ('Asr) - 4 Rak'ats.
  • Dusk prayer (Maghrib) - 3 Rak'ats.
  • Night prayer ('Isha) - 4 Rak'ats.
  • Friday prayer in place of Zuhr (Jumuah) - 2 Rak'ats.

Non-Obligatory (Sunnah) Daily Salat

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prayed extra rak'ats in addition to Fard prayers. These prayers are called Sunnah. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) always prayed two rak'ats before the Fard of Fajr and three rak'ats after the Fard of Isha. The three rak'ats after Isha are called Witr ("odd number")

Sunnah prayers are:
  • Fajr - 2 Rak'ats before Fard
  • Zuhr - 4 Rak'ats before Fard and 2 after
  • Asr - 4 Rak'ats before Fard
  • Maghrib - 2 Rak'ats after Fard
  • Isha - 4 Rak'at before Fard, 2 Rak'at after Fard and 3 Witr

Between Isha and Fajr, a prayer called Tahajjud was regularly offered by the Prophet. It was obligatory for the Prophet. Devout Muslims try to follow the practice.

Muslims also pray additional Rak'ats other than Fard and Sunnah. These are called Nafillah (optional).

Importantly, here are times when Muslims must not pray which are:
  • From the beginning of sunrise until 15-20 minutes later.
  • When the sun is at its height (Zenith or Meridian).
  • From the beginning of sunset until it is fully set.

There are eleven obligatory acts for prayers:
  • Wudu (ritual cleansing)
  • Niyyat (intention)
  • Qayam (standing erect)
